Diagnostic Water Spray Testing

Blue Quality Services performs a wide array of spray testing protocols for installed condition and for pre-manufactured units.  Our testing protocols follow industry standards and are performed as part of new construction as well as a forensic tool of identifying the location of active leaks.

Effective Quality Assurance programs include sampling the product for performance.  With respect to wall assemblies, window units, window installation, and roof assemblies, this performance sampling is conducted by performing tests, including spray testing.

Typical Testing Methods

  • ASTM E1105 - Standard Test Method for Field Determination of Water Penetration of Installed Exterior Windows, Skylights, Doors, and Curtain Walls, by Uniform or Cyclic Static Air Pressure Difference
  • AAMA 501 – Methods of Test for Exterior Walls
  • AAMA 501.1 – Water penetration of windows, curtain walls, and doors using dynamic pressure
  • AAMA 501.2 – Quality Assurance and water leakage field check
  • AAMA 502 – Field testing of newly installed fenestration products
  • AAMA 503 – Field testing of newly installed store fronts, curtain walls, and sloped glazing
  • AAMA 511 – Guideline for forensic water penetration, fenestration products
  • ASTM C1153 – Location of wet insulation in roofing systems
  • ASTM C1601 – Field determination of water penetration of masonry wall systems
  • ASTM C1715 – Evaluation of water leakage performance of masonry wall drainage systems
  • ASTM E331 – Water penetration, uniform static air pressure difference
  • ASTM E547 – Water penetration, cyclic static air pressure difference
  • ASTM E2128 – Guide for evaluating water leakage of building walls
